First U.S. Date On July 6 At Orpheum Theatre In Minneapolis - King To Convert Large Theaters And Outdoor Venues Into Intimate Spaces With Solo Performances Spanning Her Historic 40+ Year Career - Tour Includes July 13 Performance At Radio City Music Hall, King's First NYC Concert In 12 Years.

LOS ANGELES, CA - Covered by everyone from The Beatles and The Byrds to Aretha Franklin and Dusty Springfield, Carole King is one of the great songwriters of our time. But as her era-defining, multiple-Grammy-winning, 25-million-selling album 'Tapestry' attests, King connects most effectively and completely as a performer. Her warm, plaintive voice, and expressive piano playing combine to create a musical experience that is at once personal and universal. It is that experience - the resonant intimacy of an artist who is one with her audience - that will define King's 'Living Room 2005 Tour'.

The tour kicked off July 3, 2005 at the Casino in Rama, ONT, with a July 6 U.S. bow at the Orpheum in Minneapolis, 'The Living Room Tour' primarily featured performances at the piano by King, spanning her entire career: from her prototypical pop hits like "Will You Love Me Tomorrow" and "One Fine Day" to 'Tapestry'-era watersheds like "I Feel The Earth Move," and "It's Too Late," to more recent classics like the title track from her 2001 album 'Love Makes The World.' During this tour, King was also joined by guitarists Rudy Guess and Gary Burr.

'The Living Room 2005' Tour was also a homecoming for King, a native Brooklynite. On July 13, 2005 she played Radio City Music Hall, her first performance in New York City in over 12 years.

King was first inspired to stage the 'Living Room Tour' while performing in private homes and small venues around the country for environmental and political events and fundraisers. "I realized I could do the same thing in a large venue and make it feel like a living room," King recalls. "The idea of bringing the show back to basics really appealed to me." It's an idea that undoubtedly appeals to her legion of fans as well.

Carole King was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1990 as a songwriter. 'The Living Room Tour 2005' reminded audiences why no artist performs those songs as compellingly as their author.
