Carole King Appears on 'Later…with Jools Holland' in the UK
LONDON, ENGLAND – Carole King made her first appearance on the contemporary British music television show Later…with Jools Holland as she travels to London to promote the Sony UK release of Tapestry – Legacy Edition, as well as her latest DVD release, Welcome to My Living Room.
Tapestry spent fifteen weeks at #1 and remained on the record charts for six years. The album garnered four Grammy Awards, including Album of the Year, Best Pop Vocal Performance (Female), Record of the Year ("It's Too Late"), and Song of the Year ("You've Got a Friend"). The new release contains a second CD of Carole in recital, performing her Tapestry repertoire, collected from a series of four shows between 1973 and 1976.
Welcome to My Living Room offers an intimate, unadorned glimpse into the 'living room' of one of the greatest songwriters in history. The set features twenty-nine songs from King's sold-out 2004/05 Living Room Tour, including an astonishing twenty-one Top 40 hits, seven #1 singles, and eleven songs that weren't on her best-selling 2005 'Living Room Tour' live CD. Welcome also boasts extensive bonus features: King's pre-tour rehearsals, footage from the 'Songwriting 101' portion of King's show (plus an interview with King on the conception of 'Songwriting 101'), and the 'Making of the Living Room Tour' featurette (which consists of interviews with King about how the tour was conceived and crafted, as well as some of her favorite memories from the road).
Later…with Jools Holland features a mixture of both established and new musical artists, from solo performers to bands and larger ensembles. In addition to her interview with Jools, Carole performed several songs. Also appearing on the show were Franz Ferdinand, Yeah,Yeah,Yeahs, The Specials, The Mummers and Karima Francis.
The show aired on Friday, April 10th at 23:50 on BBC Two. For more information about Later…with Jools Holland, visit www.bbc.co.uk/later/ To purchase Tapestry – Legacy Edition in the UK, click here To purchase the Welcome to My Living Room DVD in the UK, click here
