Carole King's "It's Too Late" Inducted into Grammy Hall of Fame

LOS ANGELES, CA - Friday, January 24, 2003, the Recording Academy inducted Carole King's single recording of "It's Too Late" into the Grammy Hall of Fame. Singles and albums are recognized by the Academy for their enduring artistic quality and for having significantly impacted musical history.

The additional 8 albums and 13 singles that were honored this year bring the total inducted since 1973, to 606. Included among this year's singles selections were Led Zeppelin's classic "Stairway to Heaven" and Ike and Tina Turner's rendition of "Proud Mary." Among the album selections were Fleetwood Mac's Rumours, Eagles' Hotel California, and Bruce Springsteen's Born to Run.

Previous King inductees include her album Tapestry in 1998, The Shirelles version of the Goffin/King classic "Will You Love Me Tomorrow" in 1999, James Taylor's version of King's timeless "You've Got A Friend" in 2001, and King's own version of the same song in 2002.
