More than two decades ago, Carole King and Elvis Costello kept bumping into each in a Manhattan restaurant sharing interests, music and food.  Their meetings developed into a friendship and collaboration of a song "Burnt Sugar Is So Bitter" which has up to now, only existed as a demo, although Costello performed it live on several occasions. 

Television audiences were given a taste of Broadway's best when the company of the hit show Beautiful:The Carole King Musical  performed live on the NBC hit series  'America's Got Talent'.  

Broadway star Abby Mueller led the cast in a medley of Carole's iconic songs and presented the rousing finale, "I Feel The Earth Move" to most ethusiastic audience. 

Melissa Benoist and the cast of Beautiful: The Carole King Musical  were surprised when Carole King appeared at the curtain call and performed "I Feel The Earth Move" with the cast and orchestra. 

Carole said she had heard such great things about Melissa's performance that she had to come in from her home in Idaho and see for herself.  After performing with the cast, Carole and her daughter Sherry Goffin Kondor talked about the experience. 

Abby Mueller will return to the title role of the hit musical Beautiful: The Carole King Musical  beginning August 7 at the Stephen Sondheim Theater.  Current star, Melissa Benoist will play her final performance in the musical on August 4.

The earth moved in Syndey, Australia for cast members and those associated with the Australian production of Beautiful: The Carole King Musical

The Austrialian production announced "So thrilled to have won Best Musical for Beautiful: The Carole King Musical and incredibly proud of our leading lady, Esther Hannaford, for her win as Best Female Actor in a Musical, portraying the incredible Carole King!" 

July 3rd is the anniversary of Carole King's historic concert in Hyde Park, welcoming 65,000 fans and celebrating the 45th anniversary of her masterpiece album Tapestry.  This was the first-ever performance of the entire album sequence. 

Smooth Radio 97-108 featured the story behind the writing of "You've Got A Friend", a signature song for both Carole King and James Taylor. 

'You've Got A Friend' was written by Carole King during the January 1971 recording sessions for her upcoming album Tapestry, and James Taylor's album Mud Slide Slim and Blue Horizon.

"The song was as close to pure inspiration as I've ever experienced" said Carole. "The song wrote itself.  It was written by something outside myself, through me."

Former Glee star and current Supergirl lead Melissa Benoist will make her Broadway debut in the role of Carole King in Beautiful: The Carole King Musical beginning June 7 at the Stephen Sondheim Theater.

Benoist is succeeding Chilina Kennedy for a limited run through August 4, when Kennedy returns to her role.
