Carole King Featured on the Cover of Performing Songwriter Magazine

Special July '04 Issue Dedicated to Special Election Coverage

LOS ANGELES, CA - Carole King graced the cover and was the featured artist in the July 2004 issue of Performing Songwriter Magazine. The magazine, committed to supporting the art, career, and importance of the songwriting community, acted to dedicate it's July 2004 issue to the music community's stance on the importance of this year's presidential election, after noting King's commitment to activism.

In addition to the cover feature on King and her work with John Kerry and the environment, the expanded issue includes interviews with Wilco stressing the importance of voting; a very rare interview with Bill Withers; an in-depth look at the FCC deregulation; Rickie Lee Jones on the Patriot Act; and NARAS on legislative issues that affect the music community. Pete Seeger wrote about why he has more hope now than ever, and a piece explores the First Amendment and songs in history that have been censored. The issue also spotlights historical photos of artists as activists, and comments and thoughts from hundreds of artists and members of the music community.

The July issue was mailed to subscribers on June 21st and became available on newsstands the week of June 28th. Performing Songwriter  took advance orders for the Election '04 issue for a discounted price at www.performingsongwriter.com.
